Two years ago, the administrators of various WhatsApp groups focused on the game joined together to create a team representing the city of Antofagasta, which they believe is the fastest growing team in the country. Parque Brasil is a common meeting place for Pokémon Go trainers who enjoy various events such as games, raffles, themed item sales, and cosplay.
One of the most important events that this community participates in is Community Day, a special day dedicated to highlighting a specific Pokemon that appears the most during a certain period of time. In the case of Chili and Antofagasta, it is from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm, an event that brought together about 200 people from the Antofagasta community.
Anyone who is a fan of video games and TV series can participate in these calls because, according to the administrators of Team Leyendas, it is a family-friendly and healthy environment that even includes children. In addition, the game itself invites players to explore the real world by searching for and shooting virtual creatures from their mobile phones at various points around the city, called PokéStops, thus encouraging exploration, exercise and socialization.
Visit of a famous gamer
Last year’s Community Day of the Month was held on September 23rd, highlighting Pokemon “Grubbin” with 150 to 200 people in attendance, in addition to famous Chilean gamer Swaggron who traveled to Antofagasta to meet, share and play with the community. “We’ve grown tremendously recently, so much so that it’s encouraged him to come and deliver gifts for people as well.”commented Héctor Plaza, one of the administrators.
Future events
Next Sunday, October 1st, the II Team Leyendas 2023 PvP Tournament will take place, where community trainers will be able to test all their knowledge and skills for Pokemon battles in a virtual game.
