Square Enix decided to release a surprise update for Final Fantasy VII Remake on PC and PlayStation two days before the release of Rebirth.

Update 1003, released last Monday night (26), doesn’t include a detailed list of changes, citing only “fixes for various bugs” in Steam. However, fans were quick to notice one modification in particular regarding one of Tifa’s outfits.

Tifa’s look as a maid as seen in her Nibelheim flashback has been slightly altered to include a black t-shirt that covers her cleavage, making the look more similar to that seen in Rebirth.

Another big change has come to the PC version: the update breaks compatibility with the FFVIIHook mod, as reported by the Wccftech page. This mod makes it easier for players to modify and load expansion INI files from the game’s config folder and is even used to run mods that fix issues like stuttering that haven’t been fully fixed by Square Enix, but it stopped working after the update.

This is the first patch for Final Fantasy VII Remake in months, as the focus is now on the launch of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, which launches on Thursday (29) exclusively for PlayStation 5.
