Stay tuned because there are plenty of spoilers ahead!

RevivalThink back to moments from Final Fantasy VII Remake before playing Rebirth

The explosion of the first reactor

Final Fantasy VII Remake starts off with a literal bang as the Avalanche team works to destroy Reactor 1. The opening chapter does a good job of introducing the main character Cloud, how he treats his comrades, and the overall tone of the story. In it, we also see that the Shinra Corporation is truly evil ready to destroy innocent lives to achieve his goals.

Barrett and manager Shinra

On his way home after blowing up Reactor 1, Avalanche boards the same train as a loyal Shinra employee—for which Barrett is well rewarded. In addition to showing that the game will have a good dose of humor, this little snippet is perfect for showing the character’s characterization.

Returning home

After a series of events and the appearance of Sephiroth, Cloud finally returns home to find his old childhood friend Tifa. In addition to introducing the character, this part of the game shows the complex relationship between the characters and how the fighter has more of a voice in the Remake and acts decisively for the main character to become a mercenary.

A bed of roses from Final Fantasy VII

While trying to blow up Reactor 5, Cloud, Tifa, and Barrett fall into the clutches of Shinra, who literally explodes the ground beneath the main character’s feet. Just like in the Bon Jovi song, he wakes up on a bed of roses that save his life. This passage is remarkable because here we finally meet Erithwhich hastily appeared in the first chapter.

A cloud in disguise

When he is finally reunited with his friends, Cloud discovers that they are involved in a conspiracy involving Don Corneo, the suspected Wall Market crime boss. To get close to him, the character needs to complete several missions with the goal of changing into a woman. The result is hilarious, but also revealing the ex-SOLDIER can rock a dress and dance better than many professionals.

The fall of the 7th sector

One of the most tragic moments in Final Fantasy VII occurs when we return to Sector 7 and discover that Shinra wants to destroy a large part of Midgar in order to destroy the Avalanche and frame it. At a time marked by the sacrifices of comrades and numerous struggles, we realized that the struggle with the company had really become serious and there was no way to forgive it.

Red XIII appears

Fascinated by Shinra, the players find themselves in Hojo’s lab, where they have to face several of his experiments. Among them is a wolf/dog/tiger known as Red XIII, who eventually joins the heroes and will play a very important role in the story of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.

Unexpected death

Outraged by the death of her comrades, Lavina breaks into Shinra Tower and arrives at its board of directors to teach her a lesson. What the players didn’t count on was the appearance of Sephiroth, who unceremoniously impales Barrett with his sword and leaves him for dead—which, however, does not happen due to the intervention of the Murmurs. At this point, the Remake makes it very clear that it has no problem changing events from the original game.

Escape from Midgar and a new ending

With the death of President Shinra, the main characters can no longer stay in Midgar if they want to stay alive. After a thrilling escape, they battle the villainous Sephiroth on the outskirts of the city in a battle that shatters time and space. The impact of the event is so great that it seems to affect some important historical eventsthe consequences of which will be explored in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.
