The first one is already available and waiting for the second one to arrive
Initially, it seemed that the content of Final Fantasy XVI would not be expanded in any way and that everything we saw from day one would be the only thing that we would be able to play, especially since the team at Square Enix initially showed no intention of releasing any downloadable content . However, it was eventually withdrawn until several expansions were announced a few months later.
The first of these, Echoes of the Fallen, is available today, and the next, A rising tide, dedicated entirely to Eikon Leviathan, is slated for a spring release, with a date yet to be determined. However, this second DLC might not be the last that the latest installment of the saga will get.
Game Informer was able to speak with its producer Naoki Yoshida and the director of these new adventures, Takeo Kujiraoka, to to see if they were interested in developing additional DLC. While the former didn’t want to get too wet, it did reveal what could be good news for fans, though it’s best not to get too excited.
This is a difficult question. My honest answer is “I don’t know at this point”, but at the same time the probability is not absolute zero. I don’t want to rule out any real possibilities at this point. The reason is that we put a lot of effort and time into creating this game and put a lot of advanced technology into it.
And because of that, we were able to gain a lot of experience, a lot of knowledge that we can maybe apply in our next project or video game. So, I honestly feel that the team wants to take on a new challenge and move on to another project. Maybe it’s a whole new game, maybe a new form of entertainment. I feel that in the end it might be the best way not only for the players but for us as well. But then again, the possibility of downloading more Final Fantasy XVI content is not zero.
Therefore, from their statements, we can conclude that it is best not to count on it in the short term. Of course, after what happened last year, nothing can be ruled out. It’s best to wait patiently for the extension to come out A rising tide and from there we will see what happens with Final Fantasy XVI or the upcoming Final Fantasy XVII.
