BSL 2023: The Metaverse and NFTs, the Next Technological Revolution

The industry often wonders if the Metaverse and NFTs could be the next technological revolution. During the last Blockchain Summit Latam 2023 conference and panel session, Web 3.0 artist Bray Castillo, Norela Magdaniels, Fabian Buitraga and Juan Rios met.

Bray Castillo is currently an industrial designer and leader in the AI industry. On the other hand, Norela Magdaniels is an artist by profession, whose career took off after the rise of NFT, Juan Rios, an expert in Web 3.0 modeling, and Fabian Buitraga, a famous architect and artist of NFT. The panel was hosted by Clementina Giraldo, founder of Dots & Tech.

All these experts have gathered to present their cases and experiences about the Metaverse and make visible all the opportunities for development and growth, both personal and social.

In the spotlight, panelists and current Metaverse developers discussed important aspects such as smart contracts, blockchain, and how Metaverse and NFTs could be the next technological revolution. Beyond reaching the masses beyond entertainment, the Metaverse makes room for content creators and artwork.

On the other hand, a growing wave of interest from governments has created spaces where the governments of South Korea and Hong Kong are developing public platforms for social governance.

In the specific case of Fabian Buitrago, who before being introduced to NFT and Web 3.0 was dedicated to painting artworks on canvas, the encounter with NFT, blockchain and digital art changed his perspective on how to create art and how to reach more people .

In fact, the space provided by Metaverse and NFT for expression and art allows for a horizontal platform for artists and access to their art. As large exhibitions and expensive halls are no longer needed, the paradigm is changing. Millions of dollars in advertising will no longer be needed to reveal the creativity and sentiment of every NFT creator thanks to NFT marketplaces like OpenSea or Blur.

The evolution of content creators and the use of artificial intelligence

The emergence of the Web 3.0 world has given visibility to thousands of artists such as Buitraga, Magdaniels, Rios and Castillo, who for Giraldo are the fundamental basis for the development of the Metaverse. In fact, Buitraga emphasized the need to train new generations in professions such as architecture and graphic design. That is, further guide the use of 3D modeling and development software such as Unreal Engine and Unity.

However, there are not only tools like the ones Buitraga mentioned earlier, but also some others, such as artificial intelligence, that have accelerated creative processes. In the case of Castillo, who assured during his speech that thanks to artificial intelligence, he can complete his work faster due to the automation of creative processes. In this regard, Castillo commented the following:

“When you work at a professional level with an AI, if you don’t control it and you don’t have prior knowledge behind it, it will do things that don’t serve you professionally.”

This evolution has resulted in the development, nurturing and acceleration of the creative process, which is no longer limited to traditional works of art. Nor will it be limited to artwork over time, it gives life and design to the physical and digital plane. In the future, we will see the union of the physical and the digital materialize, indicating that the Metaverse and NFTs will be the next digital revolution that will change the world.
