Vallsgenera presents a project on virtual reality applied to emotional well-being

The Municipal Institute of Local Development of Valls, through the project Col·laboratori de Valls, presented its activity “Virtual Reality 360º applied to emotional well-being” at the conferences of the European Network of Living Laboratories Enoll. The event, aimed at an international audience, took place on September 21 at the World Trade Center in Barcelona.

The Living Lab is a laboratory for digital and social innovation that works to unify the area in which it is located. Facilitates the development of tools and strategies based on open and collaborative innovation in real-world settings. In addition, it is an environment for testing and experimentation where users can create innovations.

During the day, which also featured various workshops, David Gateau, AODL of Digital Social Innovation at IMDL Vallsgenera, presented a 360º virtual reality project applied to social well-being, an example of methodology and practice for the development of a living laboratory activity within the EU Integer Health and Wellbeing project. The program promoted by Vallsgenera Col·laboratori aims to use the full potential of virtual reality for the well-being of the elderly and dependent people. Thus, with the help of 360-degree immersive videos, virtual reality glasses and real physical stimuli, users with mobility difficulties can, without moving, enter and experience the sensation of walking through a natural environment.

This innovative therapeutic technique, which uses virtual reality methodologies, promotes the self-esteem of grandparents and other groups of dependent people, as well as improving their mood and ability to concentrate, among other benefits for their personal and emotional health -being.

In this context, a European cooperation project on health and well-being called the EU Integer Collaboratory, where Health and Well-being was also launched, with the public signing of a commitment document by the current authorities of Catalonia, Hamburg and Krakow.

The conference was presented by Liliana Arroyo Moliner, Director General of the Digital Society of the Department of Business and Labor of the Generalitat de Catalunya; Eudokimas Constantinidis, director of Enoll, and Arthur Serra, director of the y2cat Research and Innovation Center, who co-organized the event.
