According to the book Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Ultimania (via “aitaikimochi“), recently published by the developer, the script of the game is already completed. With the script in hand, the studio hopes to begin filming and dubbing soon.
Moreover, the story of the third part of Final Fantasy VII Remake may include “something” very important that did not exist in the original game. The idea was proposed by producer Yoshinori Kitase and will be reviewed by director Tetsuya Nomura to see how it can be implemented.
The closure of Final Fantasy VII Remake could happen in 2027
Another novelty is the possible launch window of the game. The title will feature the same team as the previous games and should take around three years to complete. This assessment will be the same as Rebirth and will result in the delivery of a “high quality product”.
In practical terms, the Remake sequence took three years, as the PlayStation 5-exclusive Intermission DLC cost Square Enix a year of time—hence the four-year difference between the two installments. The idea is to save the schedule for the next game.

Final Fantasy VII Remake is available for PS4, PS5 and PC. PS Plus Extra and Deluxe subscribers can play it at no extra cost. Rebirth is exclusive to Sony’s next generation console.
