According to the recently released Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Ultimania (via “Aitaikomichi“), Square Enix wants the game world to continue after the main story ends. But this is a plan for the future – the third part will have to be fully completed first.
Anyone who played the 1997 classic understands that not all heroes have a satisfactory fate. But despite this, some adaptations to the script could have made the ending of Final Fantasy VII less tragic and without unfinished business.
Like Rebirth, the developer also intends to create a new GOTY milestone for the franchise. According to Kitasa, it will be important to end the story on a positive critical note.

Final Fantasy VII Remake is available for PS4, PS5 and PC.
