Based on the available information, this update will start a collaboration between Fortnite and Godzilla-Kong. Epic Games has already hinted at the possibility of players turning into kaiju and terrorizing the island. Other than that, not much is officially known.
If you want to play until the servers go offline for a little extra experience, consider unranked Battle Royale/Zero Build or Creative. If you are disabled in the middle of the game, you do not risk losing your progress and most importantly your position in the game.

According to details provided by Epic Games, Fortnite’s downtime today (January 14, 2025) will be lasts about 90 minutes. Servers will be down at 4am ET and should be back up by 5:30am ET. An official update will be provided by the developers on X and via a blog post when the servers are back online.

Fortnite v33.20 update content changes
In an official capacity, it has been confirmed that the long-awaited Godzilla-Kong collaboration will go live sometime after the hiatus ends. Players can transform into kaiju and hunt or be hunted.
Additionally, Hatsune Miku will take center stage as the Fortnite Festival Season 7 headliner. A new feature called “Local Multiplayer” will also be added, and some tools can be used as picks and backs.
