Just because you can run Windows 95 on PlayStation 2 does not mean you should

Summary

  • PS2 equipment can run Windows 95, but with basic restrictions and prolonged installation processes.

  • Trying to use Windows 95 on PS2 for practical purposes, such as drawing or games, is not successful.

  • Windows 95 installation on PS2 is a basic novelty project out of the broad troubleshooting requirements.

PS2 is capable of much on the borders of the games. Many people used the game console to play music from the Disco -Dvd, but it is even more capable, and people still repel the borders today. For example, you may not know that a popular gaming console may run Windows 95. People find out a variety of stupid things with their old equipment, so I’m not surprised by it.

In the approximately 30-minute video, YouTuber Metrabyte demonstrated how to run Windows 95 on PS2 equipment. However, there are some reservations to know about. The big one is that the PS2 itself is modified and it’s not as easy as stacking Windows 95 and starting installation. This means that if you have an old Windows 95 drive that lies around, don’t expect just splash it in PS2 and run it.

Given the limitation of PS2 equipment and the fact that it should not be what you try, the installation time is much longer than you could expect from the modern one. There will probably be a lot of checkpoints, as evidenced by the video Metrabyte. The light at the end of the tunnel is that after all the hiccups are handled, Windows 95 is working on PS2, but I wouldn’t recommend it if you are not very sad.

Sony has launched an important update for almost 20 years of PS3 console.

Windows 95 runs on PS2 but at what price?

A fun project but not much more

The Windows 95 launch menu

The shocking thing here is that Windows 95 works on PS2 equipment, but it doesn’t allow you to do much. When the OS works, Metrabyte decided to try some things. He opened the paint and tried to draw, but since he could not force the mouse, working on his device, he couldn’t do it. Because Doom works almost on anything, he may have unexpectedly tried to force him to work on PS2 via Windows 95.

PS2 has never received an official port of Doom, one of the few consoles in the world that does not have one, but it has enough strength to launch, given that the game was moved to the last generation PS1. His merit, the launcher opened on PS2, but there were problems with the completion of the installation, and unfortunately the game was not playful. The sentence is in: PS2 can run Windows but it cannot run death. If you want to look at your desktop however PS2 is more than able to do it for you.

After more than 10 hours of installation and countless more troubleshooting, there was not much to show at the end of the day. It seems that you have to decide only for the novelty of Windows 95 on something that is not a PC because it doesn’t look like it can do more. Fortunately, the tuned PS2 console is still easy to find today, so when you end up ruining your own, you can always find a replacement.
