Discounted to $274 on Cyber Monday, this is a rare opportunity to get Apple’s latest iPad at its lowest price – it’s one of the most versatile devices I own. I read the news, watch YouTube, check email and even do light work without taking out my laptop. The depot continues to operate during the day, no babysitter needed. This new model also doubles down on readability and offers an impressive 11-inch screen that seems sharp enough for productivity (sigh) or an intimidating display for uncertainty.

Why do I need this? 🤔
If you regularly switch between a dozen apps, stream videos and reply to messages at the same time, you’re in for a treat because this iPad can keep up with whatever comes your way. It’s a slim, ultralight tablet that’s powerful enough to replace your laptop for most tasks, but fits in your bag with room to spare. Its spacious 11-inch Liquid Retina display lets you swipe and scroll with colors and clarity bright enough to make any prep screen feel like an old tube TV. And if you’re into gaming, the graphics capabilities mean you can play even demanding games without dropping a frame.
And let’s talk about accessories: with the Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil (both of which work like a dream with this model), you can turn it into a creative platform or an after-hours desk when you’re feeling the pinch. The only thing it can’t do is protect Apple Intelligence. To do this, you will need to purchase the Apple iPad Air, Pro or mini models.

It could be you, tucked away in the basement of your parent’s house, away from the usual hustle and bustle, snuggled up with your new iPad. Have a really happy holiday. (Amazon)
What critics say 💬
This iPad has already garnered tons of fans (including our very own tech guide, senior tech writer Rick Broidu), as well as nearly 12,000 five-star reviews.
Advantages 👍
“The new iPad is faster and has twice the memory for the same price,” Broyda says. “It’s a ridiculously capable device, roughly the size of an iPhone, but with a much larger screen. Of course, I never considered the latest model phlegmatic in any sense, on the contrary, so the increase in processor does not really bother me. However, the extra gigabytes represent a big reward. That’s a lot more room for games, movies, recorded videos, and the like.”
Rick went on to say, “The two notable changes are internal: the A16 chip (which Apple says provides a “big leap in performance”) and 128GB of storage in the base model. That’s twice as much as the current flagship iPad, but Apple has kept the original price at $349. This is an unexpected and pleasant surprise due to a 40% increase in the price of the latest nuclear iPhone 16e.”
This five-star review came from a long-time fan: “While the physical difference in size is minimal, the improved write speed, increased storage capacity, and overall experience made me grateful for this upgrade… This iPad comes in pearl cornflower blue or sky blue. He is very handsome.”
“This is a wonderful tablet! I had trouble with the school brand and my friends were chasing me to try the iPad,” began one customer. “I finally gave in and now I can’t wait to get another one for my husband. I never dreamed it could be so much easier than with my Android. Safely packaged, shipped and received within hours of ordering!”
Against 👎
“There’s one thing that’s pretty amazing about the iPad (A16) and that’s Apple Intelligence,” says Broyda. “This integrated set of chemical intelligence tools can summarize emails, enhance your notes, create custom images and more, and includes an updated Siri.
“This makes it the only current Apple device with a screen that lacks the company’s next-generation intelligence. However, some would say that Apple Intelligence (at least in its current, not fully implemented form) is nice to have, but not necessary. I’m in that camp.”
