While Apple hasn’t released an AI chatbot to the public, the company has a variety of chatbot-style tools that employees use.
A new report describes Enchanté and Enterprise Assistant, two AI-based applications currently used by Apple employees.
McMundo reports that Enchanté is a “ChatGPT-like assistant” used by Apple employees for “ideas, development, proofreading, and even general-level responses.” The design of the app is reportedly similar to the ChatGPT app on macOS. Used by Apple since November 2025.
Enchanté is designed “specifically for Apple’s workflows and security requirements” and runs on “Apple approved models”. This includes the Apple Foundation models, as well as access to Anthropic’s Claude and Google’s Gemini models.
Employees can upload files and documents for analysis. The app can also “access files stored on the Mac as a source for responses.”
According to an internal Apple memo, employees can use Enchanté not only as a testing platform, but also to help with everyday tasks at work. The application includes a database of Apple’s internal documentation and guidelines and is used by all departments, including engineering, design, marketing and management.
McMundo It also reports that Apple has a second in-house app known as “Enterprise Assistant” that “acts as a centralized knowledge hub for corporate employees.” The app reportedly contains a “database of Apple’s internal policies,” and employees can ask questions about topics ranging from health insurance and vacation to technical issues.
Bloomberg He also reported on Apple’s internal use of a ChatGPT-style app to test Apple Intelligence features. It remains to be seen if Apple will ever release a chatbot-style app to the general public.
Apple executives have expressed doubts about the usefulness of chatbot interfaces for artificial intelligence functions. In an interview with Joanne Stern at this year’s WWDC, Apple’s Craig Federighi said that Apple wants to create experiences that are “integrated into everything you do, not a chatbot on the side.”
I believe this is short-sighted and that most people rightly find the chatbot mode of interaction useful for certain tasks.
