SEOUL, (Yonhap) — Samsung Electronics Co. said Friday that pre-orders for its Galaxy S26 series smartphones have reached 1.35 million in South Korea, setting a new record for the flagship S series.
The number topped the roughly 1.3 million pre-orders registered for the Galaxy S25 lineup in 2025, the company said.
Samsung said that among the three models in the new series – the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+ and Galaxy S26 Ultra – the premium version of the Ultra model accounted for 70 percent of the total number of pre-orders, reflecting strong demand for high-end smartphones.
The company noted that black and white were the most popular options for the Ultra model and the base model, while the Galaxy S26+ was most ordered in black and purple.
The Galaxy S26 Ultra features the industry’s first integrated privacy screen and is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor, which delivers a 39 percent increase in neural processor performance compared to its predecessor.
Consumers who purchased the devices through pre-orders will be able to activate them through the country’s mobile operators from this Friday, with the official launch scheduled for Wednesday in South Korea, the US, the UK and India.
