A little over a year ago, Epic Games added several new game modes to Fortnite, including a Guitar Hero-style Fortnite festival. In the year since then, the mode has received many updates, from new songs to support for guitar controllers. Now Epic is taking the next big step with Festival, allowing up to 4 players to play together in local multiplayer.
Make an announcement on your blogThe Epic Games team unveiled their latest set of updates for the Fortnite Festival, saying, “The launch of Festival Season 7 comes with a new local multiplayer feature on PlayStation and Xbox! In a local gaming session on the festival’s main stage, up to four players can play together on one console. All the players need to play in the lobby, and then go out together on the main stage of the festival.”
Unfortunately, despite the “local” multiplayer, all participants will need to have and sign in to their Epic Games accounts to participate – meaning you can’t play using the platform’s guest accounts.
Weird limitations aside, support for local multiplayer in some form is welcome. Hopefully, this feature will be improved over time.
Today, January 14, Season 7 of the Fortnite Festival kicks off with Vocaloid star Hatsune Miku as the headliner.
