High temperatures and mobile phones: how to avoid battery damage in summer

Posted on 02/23/26

Lima, February 23, 2026-According to the latest reports from the National Meteorological and Hydrological Service of Peru (Senamhi), temperatures around 40°C have been recorded on the coast of Peru in recent days in Lima and other regions.

In the context of intense heat, it’s not just health and hydration that need attention. Electronic devices, especially smartphones, can also suffer from prolonged exposure to high temperatures.

Faced with this scenario, Infinix Perú shares four practical recommendations to protect your smartphone and extend its life during the hottest days of summer.

1. Do not leave your mobile phone in the car or in direct sunlight

When a car is parked in the sun, its interior temperature can quickly rise to far above the outside temperature. In such conditions, leaving the smartphone on the dashboard or on exposed surfaces can cause its internal temperature to rise after a few minutes.

It is recommended to keep the equipment in the shade and in ventilated areas when not in use.

2. Do not charge the device when it is hot

Connecting the smartphone to high temperatures increases the heat load on the battery. Experts warn that improper actions, such as charging the device immediately after being in the sun, can lead to a faster loss of battery capacity over time.

It is recommended to wait for the device to cool down before plugging it in and to remove thick covers while charging to facilitate heat dissipation.

3. Monitor heavy outdoor use

Functions such as recording high-definition video, using GPS for long periods of time, or playing demanding video games emit additional heat. If your computer has already warmed up due to the environment, these actions can increase its temperature even more.

Closing background programs and reducing screen brightness can help maintain a more stable performance.

4. Use appropriate chargers and accessories

The use of non-certified chargers or cables in poor condition can cause power drops and increased temperatures during charging. Choosing genuine or certified compatible accessories helps to protect both the battery and the internal components of the device.

In this sense, some modern smartphones combine a temperature management system and optimized charging systems that help balance performance and protection. Models like the Infinix Note 50 Pro contain technologies aimed at thermal regulation and energy optimization, while the Infinix GT 30 Pro can be supplemented with accessories designed to improve heat dissipation in challenging environments.

“Many users don’t associate the heat with progressive battery loss. On hot days, adopting simple habits can make a big difference in the longevity of your equipment.” shows Eduardo Martos, Head of Infinix in Peru.

With simple preventative measures, you can reduce your exposure to extreme heat and keep your smartphone performing at its best during the summer.
