Under this agreement, Lenovo will provide equipment such as Legion Tower 5i desktop towers and Legion Pro 32UD-10 gaming monitors, designed to provide high processing speed, stable operation and high quality visual display. These characteristics are considered key in sim racing, a discipline that requires technical precision and minimal response time.
The use of specialized equipment seeks to replicate conditions close to real driving, integrating high-fidelity graphics with immediate response systems. According to the company, this combination allows competitors to operate in a digital environment where realistic simulations and consistency in performance are prioritized.
The championship kicked off at the DreamHack event in Birmingham, UK and will continue at the Formula 1 Media Technology Center located in Biggin Hill. This technology center is one of the main production and broadcast locations of the championship, strengthening the connection between digital infrastructure and sporting events.
The expansion of this alliance marks an expansion of Lenovo’s role in the Formula 1 ecosystem, which already included support for racing and content creation. In this new phase, the company is also positioning itself in the field of virtual motorsports, a segment that is growing and becoming increasingly relevant in the entertainment and eSports industry.
Emily Praiser, Chief Commercial Officer, Formula 1noted: “Formula 1’s extension of collaboration with Lenovo to deliver the 2026 F1 Sim Racing World Championship marks an exciting step in our partnership. Lenovo’s continued commitment to innovation in both the virtual and real worlds of motorsports makes them the ideal partner to equip the world’s best simulators with world-class technology and deliver exceptional competition. A fantastic run at DreamHack Birmingham showcased the impact of pairing elite racers with Lenovo Legion hardware and setting a clear benchmark as a championship. It continues throughout the season.”
For his part, Volker Dühring, vice president and general manager of Lenovo’s gaming PC divisionstated: “Hosting the 2026 Formula 1 Sim Racing World Championship allows us to test Lenovo Legion technology in a truly competitive and high-performance environment. Such partnerships are important to our innovation cycle, providing real-world information that continually improves our product design, just as Formula 1 serves as a benchmark for testing automotive innovation. This means that when Lenovo devices reach gamers around the world, they are not only designed for performance, but also proven on the world stage.”
The championship includes 12 rounds, which will be broadcast live on Formula 1’s digital platforms. In this environment, technology infrastructure plays a central role not only in the competitor experience, but also in the production and distribution of content, reflecting the growing integration between sports, innovation and digital entertainment.
