Meta plans to resume the production of smart watches equipped with a health monitoring system, as well as to integrate an assistant with artificial intelligence Meta AI.
The Mark Zuckerberg-led company has yet to launch a smartwatch, a project first announced in 2021, and although a collaboration with Chinese manufacturer Huaquin was rumored last July, the device has not moved forward.

However, Meta is working to finally launch this watch, whose project is called “Malibu 2”, along with other “wearable” devices such as a new version of the Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses (called “Hypernova 2”), augmented reality glasses (codenamed Artemis) and mixed reality glasses (“Phoenix”), according to The Information, citing two sources familiar with the matter.
According to the information, this new device will have health monitoring features as well as Meta AI integration. While the smartwatch’s launch date is slated for later this year, other Meta devices could be delayed until 2027.
In this way, Meta aims to enter the market where it will directly compete with Google, Samsung, FitBit or Apple, who are already working on several wearable devices focused on artificial intelligence, such as smart glasses, AirPods with a camera or a pendant with AI.
