The Epic Games Store’s holiday giveaways have finally come to an end, but it doesn’t look like the store has any plans to end its weekly freebies for PC gamers. Replacement Hell Let Loose from last week, today the store brought a copy Confusion for everyone to demand. You have seven days to permanently add it to your library.
Developed by Gamious and originally released in 2016, Confusion described as a tongue-in-cheek look at the 19th century gold rush in North America. Offering a simulation experience, you take on the role of an oil baron embarking on a journey from rags to riches.
This includes leasing land and prospecting for liquid gold, upgrading and equipping oil production, defeating competitors with boring business deals in the local saloon, maximizing profits by manipulating prices and outbidding others in stock auctions, among other methods.
Here’s how the developer describes the setup:
Turmoil offers players a visually charming, tongue-in-cheek take on the simulation genre, inspired by the 19th century North American oil rush. Get a taste of the rush and rivalry of the time as you earn your way to becoming a successful oil entrepreneur. As you earn money by extracting and selling oil, the city will grow with you.
Rent of land at the city auction and search for oil. Build a rig, create an efficient pipeline network and deliver oil to be stored in bunkers. Sell oil at the best time to maximize profit. Then buy the necessary upgrades in town to deal with rock, gas and ice. Buy more shares of the city than your competitors to become the new mayor.
The Confusion the Epic Games Store giveaway has started for Windows and macOS. The game is normally $12.99 when it’s not on sale. Giveaway ends Thursday, January 16th at 8am PT.
