Spotify is developing a new feature to increase the personalization of its algorithm through comments written by users themselves to adapt to their preferences in displaying recommendations or playlists based on their history.
The app already allows the option delete those songs that users don’t want Spotify to take into account when creating their own recommendations, mergers‘daily listsor even popularWrapped up‘end of the year.

However, Spotify plans to include more features that allow users to further customize the algorithm based on their musical tastes. The dedicated portal Android Authority discovered code in version 9.1.28.385 of the application that covers “Notes“, in which users can Add comments to show your musical inclinations.
Phrases like “Tell us more about yourself,” “Your notes affect what you see at startup,” and even the demo comment “I’ve been listening a lot…” were found in the code, which may hint at the type of commands the program expects to receive.
However, the portal clarified that Spotify may limit the number of notes and their characters. To do this, users will be able to delete or edit their notes.
This new feature will follow the “Prompted Playlist” beta feature announced last December, which allows users to describe exactly what they want to hear in a playlist.
Another possible new feature that this version of Spotify will include is emoji customization in Messages. Currently, the app only allows you to respond to chat messages with six emojis.
According to Android Authority, Spotify has included the phrase “Choose a custom emoji reaction for chat messages” in the code, indicating that users will have more options for reacting to messages.
