Square Enix isn’t ruling out bringing Final Fantasy XVI to more platforms, though it should come to PC first

The possibility of the game eventually coming to the Xbox Series is being explored

Throughout these months, Final Fantasy XVI’s content has been improved with updates and expanded with the addition of Echoes of the Fallen, followed by The Rising Tide next month. Basically, this will be the end of this last part of the saga, although it still is It’s too early to say goodbye to Clive and company.

This was denied by Naoki Yoshida, its producer, in an interview he gave to Noisy Pixel during his visit to PAX East 2024, where he also revealed the date of Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail. The Japanese manager stated that the fact that the second and final expansion of this sixteenth chapter will be released does not mean that this is the end of it.

This made him remember that the PC version is still in development, but most importantly, he hasn’t closed the door on access the game on other platforms:


This is not the end in the sense that we have a PC version. After the release of the PC version, we are thinking of moving to other platforms as well. However, this is not exactly about history; it’s more about taking it to different platforms. That way, while the project continues, there will be no feeling of sadness and no need to drop everything. But I’m pretty sure that when everything is published, that’s when we’ll know it’s really over.

As you well recognized, the next step is publication Final Fantasy XVI on PC and from there we’ll see what happens over time. Everything indicates that Yoshida was indirectly referring to a Xbox Series X/S versionbut now, the next thing we’ll see is The Rising Tide expansion, which launches on April 18th on PS5.
