In 2026, WhatsApp is once again moving the digital message board. And the platform, which already exceeds 3 billion active users worldwide, has included a new feature that powers personalized text stickers created in seconds and without leaving the app.
Instant messaging platforms have long since ceased to be simple conversational tools. Today, they are the critical digital infrastructure that is redefining the way people communicate, consume information, interact with brands and make purchasing decisions. With more than 3.6 billion active users worldwide, apps like WhatsApp, Messenger, Telegram and WeChat are consolidating as the most used channels in the digital ecosystem.
Likewise, in the business environment, instant messaging has become a key channel for customer service, sales and conversational marketing. Statista shows that more than 80 percent of companies already use messaging platforms to communicate with customers, driven by an open rate of more than 90 percent, far exceeding email marketing.
These are the stickers
Until now, users could create their own stickers or use selfies converted into stickers. With this new option, simply enter a word or phrase in the sticker search engine and WhatsApp will automatically generate a variety of typographic images ready to be sent. The result is clearer messages, more visual conversations and more emotional communication.
According to Meta data, posts that include visuals — stickers, emojis, or GIFs — generate up to 30 percent more engagement than text-only posts. Text stickers work as micro-calls for attention in a busy chat.
In addition, this feature is available in both individual and group chats, where the competition for message allocation is even greater. In other words: WhatsApp turns the word into a visual resource with its own weight.
According to the company, the process is intentionally simple: open a conversation, enter the sticker section, write a word and choose a design. There is no friction. And when experience is built up quickly, adoption skyrockets. In fact, UX research in messaging shows that features that are activated in less than three steps have significantly higher rates of repeated use.
Being able to edit, save and reuse these stickers strengthens the habit. WhatsApp doesn’t want you to try this feature once; wants you to incorporate it into your everyday language.
afar today it is a feature intended for users, the influence goes further. Text stickers open a clear door for conversational branding. Keywords, taglines, catchphrases: anything can be turned into a visual asset in chat. It’s no coincidence that WhatsApp continues to expand its creative ecosystem while strengthening WhatsApp Business.
