SMEs are becoming prime targets for cyber attacks. According to a new report ASUS 2025 The future of small and medium-sized businessesabout 8 in 10 SMB leaders in Peru believe they are more vulnerable to attack than larger companies, and more than a quarter say their business has already been attacked.
While the risk is widely recognized, confidence in cybersecurity preparedness remains uneven. 1 in 10 SME leaders in Peru feel “very safe,” while many feel insecure or openly worried about possible vulnerability. These figures show that awareness is not enough: there is a demand for smarter and more scalable solutions.
However, SMEs are taking steps in the right direction. The report shows that 80% consider themselves to be at least somewhat proactive when it comes to cybersecurity. However, only a portion goes beyond the basics, leaving room for more strategic defenses designed for the future.
This is where artificial intelligence can change the game. About 5 in 10 SMB owners cite increased security as one of the top benefits of AI, pointing to its ability to detect anomalies, reduce human error and respond to threats in real time.
Today, there are AI-enabled business tools such as the ASUS Expert P series equipped with built-in security features, including ASUS ExpertGuardian, which provides complete protection from hardware to software. These integrated solutions, designed to adapt to changing risks, are especially important for small and medium-sized businesses with limited IT resources.
