A Pokémon Drama: The Live-Action Series About Pikachu and Friends Releases First Trailer

The Pokémon Company has been slow to realize that its target audience, whether it likes it or not, isn’t just kids who want to become trainers and earn the usual badges. It also includes a significant number of adult fans of the franchise, or at least die-hard nostalgics. Maybe that’s why the franchise has grown and expanded into places we never thought it could penetrate. Evidence of this is the fantastic trading card anime series or the one currently premiering in Japan that offers a fresh take on the Pokemon world.

Real world, I decided to challenge you!

And that’s because “Pokémon: Pack Your Pocket With Adventure” isn’t a typical adventure where kids go out to have fun hunting monsters, and it’s not an American version like Detective Pikachu. here Pokemon don’t run around the streets. In fact, they’re not even real: they live in a video game that Madoka Akagi rediscovers the same week she starts her new job. And yes: she blows the Game Boy. It could not be otherwise.

This, at first glance, series for adults, in which she will realize how much “Pokémon Red” resembles several situations from her everyday life: boss fights, little joys, or, why not, a Magikarp-like companion. Of course, as a nice companion product, it will still feature a kid opening the saga on Switch in his own way. Nostalgia, yes, of course, but if we can get more people hooked again, that’s what we’re looking for.

The series will premiere on October 19 on TV Tokyo, marking the first time “Pokémon” has tried its hand at live-action, apart from the well-known American film, for which a sequel is currently in the works. Many fans are coming to work, is this the start of a much more mature phase for the saga, or is it just a minor change before bringing us another “Let’s Go Pikachu 2”? Only time will tell.
