The Pokemon TCG collection can be a brutal affair at times, but it’s not all black and white. Fans of the hobby differ on whether one of their comrades was really cheated by a colleague.
Collecting Pokemon trading cards can be a great investment. The right cards can add up to big bucks, and by big bucks, we mean millions of dollars.
With awards like these, there is a lot of scalping and fraud on the scene. Things have gotten to the point where people will riot over Pokemon cards, and even the rating bodies may question their practices.

In such murky waters, it can be hard to tell what is duality in the world of Pokemon TCG collectibles. Reddit user u/GearsOfLogic complained about a “scam” on the Pokemon TCG Subreddit, but others on the platform are quick to judge.
u/GearsOfLogic explained that a colleague of theirs had a nephew who liked to collect Pokemon cards. This led u/GearsOfLogic and others in the office to sell cards cheaply to this fellow.

In the end, it turned out that there was no such nephew and a colleague collected postcards herself at a discounted rate. According to u/GearsOfLogic, the co-worker was “too embarrassed” to admit that they were adults collecting Pokemon cards.

However, users in the comments sympathized with the colleague, especially considering that u/GearsOfLogic only sold them regular cards in bulk. “I mean, it just depends on what you sold her. If only the volume – I’d say throw it away,” intoned one of the collectors.

It turned out that the colleague was not in the business of reselling cards, but simply liked to collect old Pokemon products. Sounds like a case of a grown man being insecure about collecting Pokemon,” said another user.

One collector on the subreddit suggested they talk to a colleague and explain that there’s nothing to be ashamed of. Many others agreed with this sentiment.

Very few users agreed that it is a “scam”. Especially given that there were no counterfeit cards or speculation in resale.
