Will there be another Zelda in Hyrule of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom? The franchise’s producer speaks out

It looks like we have a very interesting post related to The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, this time about its world. You already know it’s in conjunction with Breath of the Wild.

Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom for Nintendo Switch

We can confirm that the maker of Zelda, Eiji Aonuma, shared in a recent meeting with Game Informer that Nintendo’s approach was to exhaust the possibilities of this world. Aonuma noted that they have no plans to continue direct sequels to this type of world in future titles.

Also, he ruled out a return Ultraman skill in future games, explaining that they felt satisfied with what was created and consider it complete in this way. These were his words:

It would be sequel after sequel, which gets a little wild when you think about it! But as I mentioned before, in Tears of the Kingdom we tried to build on the world we created with Breath of the Wild and really stretched the possibilities of what we could put in that world. I think this is, to use the term, the apotheosis or final form of this version of The Legend of Zelda. In that sense, I don’t think we’re going to do a direct sequel to a world like the one we’ve created.

I think we definitely won’t be including Ultramano in titles in the future. We did everything we could, putting everything into this game, creating what we wanted to create, and we felt like it was complete.

Regarding the DLC capabilities, they had this to say:

Well, it would be sequel after sequel, which is a little wild when you think about it! But as I said before, with Tears of the Kingdom, we wanted to build on the world we created with Breath of the Wild and push the limits of that world. I think this is – to use the term – the apotheosis or final form of this version of The Legend of Zelda. In that sense, I don’t think we’re going to do a direct sequel to a world like the one we’ve created.
