We are pleased to present our new gameplay trailer for The Ascension of the Ronin and confirm that the game will be released on March 22nd, 2024 and will be available for pre-order from December 14th, 2023.
Since we announced this title last September, we’ve been hard at work, buoyed by the enthusiasm our players have given us since then. The Rise of Ronin features Koei Tecmo’s signature historical setting and is full of typical Team Ninja action and combat. In the process of creating our biggest game to date, we worked together with the SIE team to deliver an experience that allows players to fully live in the place of the ronin. in the last days of the Tokugawa Shogunate.
At the end of the 19th century, Japan was characterized by the fall of the Tokugawa shogunate, a period of oppression and stagnation. It was a time when innovative people like Ryoma Sakamoto and Shoin Yoshida sought to modernize the country. Ronin, the main character of this game, will see his fate closely tied to these characters (some of whom you have already seen in the trailer) in different ways. Your decisions will have an effect on your character’s alliances or enmities with characters in the story and their factions.
You’ll explore the vast world of late Edo Japan on horseback and glider, and battle enemies with a wide variety of weapons and gear: melee weapons like swords and spears, and long-range weapons like firearms and projectiles. Also, with grappling and stealth tactics in your arsenal, get ready for combat variety and freedom, as you can see in the latest trailer.
In addition to the release date, we’re excited to share the options you’ll need to enjoy The Ascending of Ronin. You will be able to pre-order the game from December 14, 2023 at all participating retailers, the PlayStation Store and direct.playstation.com. Reservations will be available on December 14, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. local time. Players who pre-order any version of The Rise of the Ronin will receive the Iga ninja katana and armor in advance, as well as 4 fighting styles so you can start forging your destiny.
