Ever since ʻoumuamua surprised the world in 2017, astronomy lives with confidence that space visitors go through our solar system without leaving only marks. Now the team of the South -Western Scientific and Research Institute guarantees that we already have technology for interception, fly them and get information that can change the history of space study.
A mission intended for the impossible
Inter -storing objects do not behave like asteroids or comet of our system. Their hyperbolic trajectories throw them into the outer space at high speed without getting into the orbit of the sun. This speed makes it difficult to study. However, a team led by Matthew Freman claims that overflowing a frontal achievement is achievable. In fact, they assure that 3I/Atlas, the latter identified visitor, was within the defense range with modern technologies.
That can reveal the ship
The proposal focused on the fast mission: approach to high speed and collect information before the object of escape our space neighborhood. According to Alan Stern, Vice -President SWRI, this strategy would open an unprecedented window to find out about the composition, structure and properties of the organs formed in other star systems. The data would allow the planetary training processes that we can only imagine today. In addition, this would serve as a model for the development of future missions, cost optimization and time.
Three visitors and an open future
To this day, humanity has discovered only three of these travelers: ʻoumuamua in 2017, Borisov in 2019 and Atlas in 2023. Each left more questions than answers. Astronomers suspect that thousands of similar facilities cross the solar system every year. Thanks to a special mission, science can capture it in full transit and answer the question what secrets these fragments of other soles are preserved. The proposal is not only a technical plan: it is an invitation to expand the horizons of space research.
