Apple is working on a new AirTag-like AI wearable equipped with cameras and microphones

Apple is working on a new artificial intelligence (AI) wearable device that will have a small, flat, circular design similar to the AirTag, and will be equipped with cameras and microphones.

The Cupertino folks continue to innovate their devices, in this case with a new product category that’s still “in the early stages of development” and that they call the AI pin, so it’s expected to be used on clothing or as an accessory in the style of Humane’s AI pin.

This was shared by The Information, which managed to learn details about this new “wearable device”, such as that it will be equipped with two cameras, a standard sensor and a wide-angle sensor, as well as three microphones and a speaker.

All of this will be crammed into a small, flat, circular AirTag-like device made of aluminum and glass. In addition, it will include a physical button on one of its sides, and to charge it, it will have wireless charging with the mechanism used by the Apple Watch.

With all of this in mind, the aforementioned media revealed that Apple plans to launch this new AI “wearable” device next year in 2027, and that it plans to produce around 20 million units to launch.

It’s worth noting that with this new device and the recent agreement with Google to expand AI capabilities through Gemini, Apple intends to expand its capabilities and AI offering to catch up and compete with other companies in the sector.

This commitment to AI devices follows that of other companies, such as OpenAI, which plans to launch its first product later this year, co-developed with former Apple Design chief and LoveFrom founder Jony Ive.
