OnePlus didn’t want the year to end without updating its smartphone family. OPPO’s subsidiary has just announced its new OnePlus 15Ra device that debuts on Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 and that sacrifices part of the camera to bet on two things: performance and autonomy.
And this chip is not the only thing that stands out from the set, because inside we find a battery with a capacity of no more and no less than 7400 mAh, a number that, at 8.3 millimeters, only allows us a technology like silicon-carbon. Now that we’ve gotten to know each other, let’s get to know him a little better.

Elegant design with lots of green

Following on from the OnePlus 15, the new OnePlus 15R offers a sleek industrial design with simple colors, aluminum and a simple back where the camera module stands out. The firm supports the proposal of a very vertical module, in which this time we find two cameras: a corner and a wide-angle one. Cuts had to be made somewhere to keep costs low, and the firm decided to downsize the photography department.
As for the screen, we find a 6.83-inch LTPS AMOLED panel with 1.5K resolution which reaches 165 Hz. This is one of the highest numbers we’ve seen to date, although in gaming we can only achieve it in some very specific games. It doesn’t look bad on paper, and neither does the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor under the screen.

The device is available in black and mint green with a younger flavor. In terms of resistance, the company boasts IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K. According to OnePlus, the phone is protected not only against water jets, but also water jets up to 80ºC. Needless to say, it also resists dust and we can submerge it in 1.5 meters of water for half an hour.
The engine is on top of everything
OnePlus launches Snapdragon 8 Gen 5. Be careful not to get confused with the Elite model. This is a different chip, albeit a high-end one. This SoC clocks at 3.8GHz and includes an Adreno GPU clocked at 1225MHz. OnePlus claims to have optimized the processor for better gaming performance. Essentially, they bypassed the CFS that Android comes with by default with the OnePlus CPU Scheduler, a technology that gives games a certain priority.

The chip is accompanied by 12GB of LPDDR5x RAM, up to 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage, a 5704mm² dual camera and a huge battery. Silicon carbon continues to delight us with good surprises and has allowed OnePlus to realize a The battery has a capacity of 7400 mAh only 8.3 millimeters thick. Fast charging, for its part, has a power of 80 W.
Gaming is an important aspect, so along with Android 16, the OnePlus AI package and Google Gemini, OnePlus introduced a chip dedicated to response time and another one for WiFi. The first allows the terminal to have a touch detection of 3200 Hz, a true wildness, while the G2 chip improves the WiFi connection even in difficult conditions. All this, of course, is always on paper.
A simple camera

The OnePlus 15R puts together a versatile photography package, albeit one that is hopelessly less competent than its big brother. The reason? He doesn’t have a telephoto lens, but he’s happy angle and wide angle in the back. On the front panel, for its part, we find one 32-megapixel camera.
As for the main camera, we have a sensor Sony IMX906 50 megapixels with OIS and eight megapixels with a wide angle. The cameras are no longer signed by Hasselblad, something that is now reserved for OPPO, but OnePlus relies on its DetailMax Engine, an image engine that consists of three technologies: Ultra Clear Mode, Clear Burst Mode and Clear Night Engine.
In short, the firm promises detailed photos during the day, static images of moving objects when we take burst photos, and better lighting at night. We’ll clear up any doubts once we get a chance to get our hands on it.
