Finale Preview – We play with the next candidate for the king of online action

Stealing money and accidentally leaving is the reason for the craziest competition. We played The Finals, an online shooter with a chaotic and direct soul that suddenly appeared for free on PS5, PC and Xbox Series X|S. We’ll let you know what we think of the online games after their launch announcement at The Game Awards.

The online action It’s a juicy catch for game developers who can develop seasons and seasons of monetization. But how do you stand out in the arena with titans like Overwatch 2 or Fortnite? Final for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC has an ace up its sleeve: the experience of its developers, some of them Battlefield or Medal of Honor veterans.

They have been developing the game for a long time is a talking point among fans of the multiplayer online game. So we didn’t want to miss the opportunity to participate in gaming sessions with other members of the press that we were recently invited to for imminent launch during The Game Awards for PS5, PC and Series X|Swe had to try…

We were able to participate in several sessions which mainly consist of games of 4 teams, 3 participants in each.

There are few riddles: it is a free game in which teams must compete in finding safes scattered around the stage and extract their contents to move them to a safe area, or compete to get the most coins before the time runs out.

Of course, we can and should too eliminate competing players, which will knock them out of the game for a few seconds. While a player is knocked out, another member of their team can try to revive them to get them back into the fight faster.

If we manage to eliminate all 3 team members at once, they will all take more seconds to respawn as a penalty.

Although the rules are very simple, We face huge scenarios full of nooks and crannies and secret entrances. Exactly, such a grace a team member raids the safes while others defend against an enemy attack, so communication is crucial.

There aren’t any identifiable characters like Overwatch, but we can make our avatar light, medium or heavy type. Each of these types carries rigged some weapon which we can use (a light one has easy access to a sniper rifle, for example) and gradually we can purchase more with the money collected.

Final

Each category also has a unique special move. So the big guys can go berserk for a few seconds and rush into a stampede capable of knocking down walls… And the careless ones who get ahead.

In addition to weapons ranging from pistols to massive warhammers, we can use strategic facilitiessuch as jump platforms that we can place in the right place to catapult.

One of the most distinctive objects in the game is a foam generator which, when hardened, can create new barriers, climbing platforms or whatever our imagination dictates. It should be added that stages can be almost completely destroyedso we can, for example, shoot into the ground from the lower floor to make the competitors above fall.

Using these crazy gadgets and destroying buildings is challenging sometimes the action can feel a bit confusing and, if it’s our first games, we can feel like little mice in the cat’s den, with shots we won’t even know where they came from.

Final

But when we get used to the dynamics and design of the scenarios, very funny moments are created. For example, we had a good laugh throwing a bomb at a wall that landed on an enemy squad and left them in dire straits.

This mix of strategy and chaos delivers lots of personality in games that are inherently simple and straightforward.

During the games we were able to play with customization of not only weapons and gadgets, but also clothes, which we can purchase with the currency earned in the game (although when it is finally launched, this currency can also be obtained with real money). There are already tons of comic masks and costumes, but there are also some very aggressive and cool ones.

The idea is that everything These fights are part of a kind of TV showin the purest Perseguido style, so the concept of the show is very present in the games, even with narrators commenting on the highlights of each round.

Final

Of course, there is a strong side some tournaments we qualify for if we are the ones who raise the most, although if we want to move away from such intense or ranked games, we can also set up an informal scrimmage.

So far, there was a lot to choose from, both in terms of weapons and scenarios (from special mention for very flashy las vegaswith the “eaten by desert sand” option), but you can already see the huge potential these games could have.

The finals are here and as we said, the competition is fierce, Our first games seemed as crazy as they were fun., thanks to game dynamics that equate to flight. Are they going to beat you up at first? Sure, but you’ll have a good time. After all, who doesn’t like a little innocent competition every now and then?
