Google Cloud presented a new functionality for the telecommunications industry at MWC 2026: Agentic Telco, a model in which artificial intelligence is not only limited to data analysis, but becomes a system capable of performing autonomous actions in the network.
The proposal involves moving CSPs from isolated automation schemes to networks with autonomy levels 4 and 5, i.e. infrastructures capable of detecting, diagnosing and resolving failures without human intervention.
From analytical AI to acting AI
According to the company, the big leap is not only in advanced analytics, but also in the inclusion of intelligent agents that combine real-time data, historical context and execution directly on the network.
To enable this model, Google Cloud has strengthened its architecture with tools such as Cloud Spanner Graph, BigQuery, and Vertex AI that allow integration into a single platform:
A dynamic digital twin of the network that displays the physical and logical state of the infrastructure in real time. Unified level of graphical data, eliminating the gap between operational and analytical information.
Added to these two are predictive models based on graphical neural networks (GNNs) capable of predicting the propagation of failures before they affect the end user.
The goal is to move from reactive monitoring to predictive and executive management, where the network not only warns but also acts automatically.
New agents for offline communication
As part of its Agentic Telco vision, Google Cloud has introduced new agents developed in collaboration with FutureConnections.
These include a data steward agent that automates the management and maintenance of digital twin fidelity, and autonomous network agents being tested at One New Zealand that can reroute traffic or reset configurations in the event of service degradation without human intervention.
This approach aims to address one of the industry’s major bottlenecks: reliance on disconnected legacy systems that delay decision-making.
With this approach, Google Cloud, together with Agentic Telco, aims to transform communication from a passive service to an intelligent platform capable of optimizing, adapting and responding in real time.
