Sony has announced that Gran Turismo Sport’s online servers will shut down on January 31, 2024.
In a message posted on Gran Turismo’s official website, the Japanese company confirms that the “end of online service” will begin on December 1, when the DLC will be removed from the PlayStation Store. All DLC purchased prior to this date, as well as the “standalone parts” of the game, can continue to be used after the closure.
The development team explains that after Gran Turismo Sport’s online services are closed, they will focus on “continuing to improve the online services” of Gran Turismo 7.
“After the end of the service period, online services such as Community, Open Lobby or Sports Mode, and online features/items such as custom design will not be able to continue to be used.”
“The standalone portions of the game will be playable, including all previously purchased downloaded content.”
“We would like to thank the many users of the Gran Turismo Sport online service since its launch in 2017. From now on, we will continue to work on further improving Gran Turismo 7’s online services on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 consoles.”
The statement also confirmed that tracks, cars and custom vehicle variants will remain available, however, as the ‘Discover’ option requires an internet connection, access to custom car designs, helmets and racing suits will not be possible.
The January 31, 2024 closure also means that some trophies will no longer be available, so if you want to get the Gran Turismo Sport dam, consider doing so before that date, as it won’t be possible then.
Gran Turismo Sport was released exclusively for PlayStation 4 in March 2017.
