With Taptic Engine, with SIM card tray

A viral post is circulating today showing what appears to be an iPhone Air modified to include a SIM card slot.

According to multiple reports on Chinese tech and social media websites, the mod was created by a creator simply referred to as Huaqiangbei, which is also the name of an area in Shenzhen known for selling cheap electronics.

While 9to5Mac couldn’t find Douyin’s original post, we were able to find a repost of the original TikTok video, which you can see below:

According to multiple reports and viral video reports, the modification was achieved by replacing Apple’s haptic feedback component with a smaller, less powerful motor, leaving room for a SIM card tray.

As is often the case with viral reports of modified iPhones, there is no shortage of comments claiming that the device is not a modified original iPhone Air, but simply a clone designed to look exactly like Apple’s device.

What do you think? Is this the original iPhone Air that has been modified to include a SIM card tray, or is it just a scam? Let us know in the comments.
