Jim Ryan is leaving Sony PlayStation after 30 years with the company, but he’s taking with him a great gift that’s one of a kind in the world… and one that many gamers crave.
It’s been a busy year for Sony PlayStation. Great games have been launched on PS5, such as Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 or Final Fantasy XVI, as well as new hardware such as PS VR2, PlayStation Portal or the new PS5 Slim.
There have also been important changes, most notably the departure of Jim Ryan as CEO of the company. He worked for Sony for 30 yearsand his time has come.
It will be April 1, 2024 when Jim Ryan has given up on Sony PlayStation. We don’t know if the policies established by the former boss will remain (for example, betting on games as a service), but for sure, a new phase is beginning for the Japanese company.
As part of the events to mark his farewell, Sony hosted a farewell party for Jim Ryan, attended by notables such as Shuhei Yoshida o Kazunori Yamauchi.
The highlight of this festival is the gift that Sony gave to Jim Ryan. It’s a PS5 console, but not just any console… because many players are already dreaming about it.
The most nostalgic PS5 ever, just for Jim Ryan

During his 30 years with the company, Sony gave their former manager a special gift. Needless to say, it is off the market and may remain the only collector’s item in the world.
A Sony employee made the announcement via his personal Twitter/X account, teasing all players.
”Sad to not be at The Game Awards, but I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to go to the Jim Ryan Appreciation Party and be around some legends and this one-of-a-kind PS5 in PS1 style”.
Actually, there is themed PS5 with the design of the first PlayStationbut it cannot be purchased as it is an exclusive gift that will now be used by Jim Ryan.
Stands out for reasons the color of the game in the center area (instead of the standard black color), but above all, players fell in love with the DualSense controller, which is very similar to the PS1 controller.
It’s like the 20th anniversary of the PS4launched in 2014 and has become a collector’s item, but at the moment there are no plans to go on sale.
Do you want this PS5 to go on sale one day? We can’t rule it out, maybe for Sony PlayStation’s 30th Anniversary what will take place in 2024. What we do know for sure is that Jim Ryan will be thrilled with his new console.
