It was another event of The Game Awards 2023. The last bombshell. The icing on the cake. Capcom took the stage at the Jeff Keighley Gala to present Wild monster huntersa new part of the famous hunting saga will arrive in 2025 a PS5, PC y Xbox Series X|S.
Although little information has been released about it, the trailer speaks for itself and shows a clear graphical leap. Because it will be so the first Monster Hunter of a new generation and even though Monster Hunter Rise eventually reached desktop platforms, Wilds will be the first to be developed for them after Monster Hunter World and its expansion, Iceborne (from 2018 and 2019, respectively). Something tells us that the franchise will continue to break records in the coming years. Judge for yourself:
Is the best Capcom back?
We don’t think Capcom will look any better than before of the Super Nintendo era (Aladdin, Breath of Fire, Mega Man X, Street Fighter II) in PlayStation 2 (Devil May Cry 3, Okami, Resident Evil 4, Viewtiful Joe), but This does not mean that he is not resurrected.. Because the Japanese company recently suffered a fire as devastating as the one in Rome in AD 64 (a fire that has become a figurative myth today). It is said that the city of the Capital Wolf burned for five days in a row at that time. In Capcom’s case, It wasn’t five days in hell, it was five years. The same ones that existed between Resident Evil 6 (2012) and Resident Evil 7 (2017). And although in his case it was a metaphorical fire, he almost did not leave us one of the most important companies in video game history. It burned the talent of its developers and the value of its brands to ashes.
But out of that fire, chronicled in The Fall and Rise of the Phoenix of the Video Game Industry , it looks like a revamped Capcom has emerged in top form. This year 2023 signed exceptional year. Not only did he put a game in contention for a GOTY ( Resident Evil 4 Remake ), but he also scored another game over 90 on Metacritic ( Street Fighter 6 , the saga he returned to combat olymp). He even allowed himself other goodies, such as the remastering of Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective and proving grounds such as Exoprimal. And this is only about the last months. If we go further, we have Resident Evil Village and RE 2 Remake (2019 GOTY at MeriStation) o Monster Hunter World and Rise (the deliveries that made the hunting franchise the pinnacle of the company’s catalog). For a long time, even its missteps (Resident Evil 3 Remake) were highly recommended games.
With games like Dragon’s Dogma 2 and Pragmata on the horizon, as well as other Resident Evil remakes and now X, it’s time to speak up and defend Capcom as one of the fittest Japanese developers in the entire industry.
