Nintendo won’t be bringing anything to The Game Awards, but the Switch 2 is getting closer and closer

Nintendo isn’t planning on making any big announcements at The Game Awards this year, but an insider says the Switch 2 announcement is still two months away.

Nintendo is a company that has generally held its own when it comes to major video games since they debuted in the Nintendo Direct format over a decade ago. U The Game AwardsHowever, they tend to go overboard.

Last year, for example, Nintendo announced Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon at The Game Awards (five years after they announced Bayonetta 3 at the same show).

But in other years they haven’t announced anything… and this year 2023, despite two of their games being among the six Game of the Year candidates, there aren’t any rumors that they’ll have anything too spectacular.

But don’t worry: it would be surprising if the Nintendo Switch 2 doesn’t come out (or at least get announced) next year. In fact, according to an insider, Your announcement is a matter of two months.

Nintendo Switch 2 could be announced within two months

A Zippo insider, well-known in the community (and with quite a few detractors, even though he was right earlier about the new Mario 2D Super Mario Bros. Wonder ), claims that Nintendo doesn’t plan to bring anything big to The Game Awards.

Perhaps in the coming months there will be some trailers for games that have already been announced. Most likely Another Codex for the Switch, coming out in January, and according to another insider, Feather (the one that leaked F-Zero 99) will have a trailer and demo soon.

However, he adds that Nintendo will announce a new console, Switch 2, in two months. Nintendo usually holds a Nintendo Direct in February, and if the new console does indeed come out later this year, as has been widely rumored, an announcement earlier in the year would make sense.

For now, Nintendo will be thinking about whether or not Zelda has a shot at the GOTY award that Baldur’s Gate 3 seems certain to get, and promoting future releases like the Pokémon DLC. But 2024 is going to be a very exciting year for Nintendo fans… just today we had another Metroid Prime 4 rumor.
