PlayStation 5 Pro for full integration AMD FSR 4 in 2026

Sony announced that in 2026 the PlayStation 5 Pro will receive the full version of the AMD Fidfitalfx Super Resolution 4 Technology. Based on Project Amethyst, update is a joint effort between Sony and AMD launched with the PS5 Pro debut at the end of 2024. In a recent interview, PlayStation’s lead architect Mark Sernyi confirmed that the algorithm developed together would be implemented on the console just the way it appears on the PC. They provide a complete set of FSR 4 owners to the PS5 Pro without finishing.

AMD introduced Sony with its comprehensive quality practices and helped create a special QA -focused team, solely on enhancing scaling. Participants of both companies deserve this mutual exchange with the acceleration of development, reaching significant stages less than nine months. Sony plans to distribute the FSR 4 update as a free system update for all PS5 Pro users. Meanwhile, AMD will integrate lessons obtained from Project Amethyst into its next RDNA 5/Udna graphics architecture. Because none of the companies has placed restrictions on use for general research, third part developers and partners’ equipment can also take these successes. For PS5 Pro, upgrades will provide a marked improvement in the clarity of the image without sacrificing performance. For the next -generation RDNA 5/Udna GPU, the scale optimization will be even more refined, as the developers have already done the same work for the console.
