Route to New Friends was launched on December 5, 2023 to celebrate the launch of Routes’ Gift Sharing feature.
Therefore, you will have to use the Gifts and Routes features to complete this special investigation. One of the mission tasks is also time-bound, so it cannot be completed in one day.
Fortunately, and because it’s a special investigation, Path to a New Friendship doesn’t have a time limit, so you can complete the mission whenever you want.

How The Route to New Friends works in Pokémon Go
The mission is part of the On the Road event, which is part of the Season of Timeless Travel. By the way, the Path to New Friendships quest encourages you to explore the world while playing Pokémon Go. Thus, you will go through different routes, exchange gifts with Mateo and, of course, catch Pokemon.
In theory, there are no prerequisites to access the quest, so it should unlock automatically regardless of how far you’ve progressed in other quests. If it doesn’t appear automatically, try opening and closing the program or going up a few levels.
Although some missions in the game have level requirements, all of them should be unlocked by the time you reach level 30. However, there are basically no requirements.
Also, you can complete the Road to New Friends at your own pace as there is no time limit and it will not disappear in the future.
