Rebirth has its own version of Gwent

Yesterday we reported that the main story of Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth will take about 40 hours to complete. However, there is a possibility that 100% match duration could reach over a hundred hours, which seems especially true now that we have more details about the game’s card minigame, Queen’s Blood (or Sangre de Reina, if they adapt the name).

Speaking to Game Informer, co-director Motomu Toriyama confirmed that we’ll see a “huge amount” of cards to collect, and that Queen’s Blood feels like its own game. “As for the number of cards, there’s a huge number, enough to be a card game in its own right. Part of the fun is collecting those cards. Queen’s Blood is more of a card game of strategy and reasoning, but I have ” I’ve seen some of the gameplay when you get to the end and collect all the cards and it can be a very flashy, fast-paced card game.”

Any game with its own card game can be compared to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and its Gwent card game. It’s something the team must have expected, as director Naoki Hamaguchi said the game influenced Rebirth’s development.

“For titles like The Witcher 3 that have an open-world role-playing game type element, we did extensive research on those types of titles and felt that was the baseline that Rebirth should be one of the types of titles. that can support yours and have the kind of content that will satisfy your players.”.
