He President of Square Enix, Takashi Kiru, wrote a New Year’s Eve letter outlining part of his vision for the company. One of the most interesting aspects of the said letter is that it reveals that the company plans to “be aggressive in applying artificial intelligence and other advanced technologies in our content development and publishing functions“.
These Christmas cards have recently become a staple of the beginning of the year, and previous cards from Square Enix have already hinted at the company’s desire explore NFTs, blockchain games, the meta universe and more, what was embodied in reality. AI takes center stage this year.
Kiru began by talking about how the AI and his “potential consequences” have long been a subject “academic discussion“. However, he argues, the rise of ChatGPT and similar generative AI programs has “the potential not only to change what we create, but also to fundamentally change the processes by which we create, including programming“.
In the short term, our goal will be to increase our development productivity and achieve greater sophistication in our marketing efforts. In the long term, we hope to use these technologies to create new forms of content for consumers, as we believe that technological innovation opens up business opportunities.

On the editorial front, Kiru reveals that the company wants “enable greater global collaboration and facilitate the digital transition“. The team hopes that this will allow them to not only enable “increase our sales of new titles as well as offer our rich back catalog to more customers and in turn expand our Group’s intellectual property (IP) fan base.oh”.
There is also desire implement plans to expand and facilitate collaboration between Square Enix’s development and publishing teams in the hope that it will make them “customers are even happier than ever“.
On the blockchain side, Kiru added this Blockchain/Web 3.0 entertainment, artificial intelligence and the cloud are three of the main “focus on investment areas» Square Enixand “is currently working on modifying our organizational structure and optimizing the allocation of resources to support these efforts.“
Square Enix is in for a great year as fans will soon be able to enjoy Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, the second DLC for Final Fantasy XVI, Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail, Foamstars, SaGa: Emerald Beyond, and Visions of Mana. Not forgetting that his first blockchain game, Symbiogenesis, is off to a great start.
