A new feature in One UI 8.5 lets you jump from image to image with text prompts

Samsung recently launched the One UI 8.5 beta program for the Galaxy S25 series and highlighted some of the new features included in the update. While other Galaxy devices have yet to receive beta versions, a leaked One UI 8.5 build for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 has revealed a new Galaxy AI feature that could seriously improve the image editing experience on Galaxy phones.

According to SamMobile, the new feature brings instant image editing to the Stock Gallery app. Users can access this feature by tapping the Galaxy AI button in the app and using the text box in the Photo Assist section to describe the changes. The feature will reportedly allow users to add, change, or remove elements from an image, but more importantly, it will allow users to transfer elements from one image to another.

Galaxy AI in One UI 8.5 will allow users to move things from one photo to another

A tutorial on the Samsung Tips app reveals that the new editing feature will allow users to select a photo from the Gallery app and ask Galaxy AI to make a detail from that photo and add it to the photo they’re currently editing. Users will be able to describe how the material is combined to achieve the desired result.

SamMobile notes that this feature is not working in the leaked version of One UI 8.5 and is not available in the recently released beta version for the Galaxy S25 series. So it’s impossible to know how effective Samsung’s new generative editing capabilities are. We hope to learn more and test this feature in the upcoming One UI 8.5 beta or when the stable version becomes available for the Galaxy S26 series early next year.
