They got used to alternating each action Forza Horizon in Forza Motorsport, it’s normal to wait a long time after a six-year absence. After launching a Forza Motorsport 7The 10th move took a break (so to speak; we’re pretty sure it didn’t) to virtually redesign its automotive offering from the ground up, adapting it without compromise to the new generation of Xbox and PCs. Is the wait worth it? We will talk about it below.
Driving pleasure
Forza Motorsportwhich leaves its number with this eighth part is a a driving simulator that takes us to compete around the world through a wide variety of real routes. We are not going to explain to you how to play this game, but we are going to dive into what we can expect when we get behind the wheel or behind the wheel. Let’s start with the most important thing: management.
Stop by Forza Motorsport It’s a real pleasure. Turn 10 has done a fantastic job of making the car fun to drive.. It is in our hands to adjust the parameters to make it more simulator or more simcade, but no matter how we play, driving is a pleasure. The cars are very responsive and react realistically depending on the weather. We even have the option to choose how much we want to fill the tank to improve acceleration and handling, risking running out of gas in the middle of the race if we don’t make a pit stop.
The solution is somewhat surprising add a level system for the car. The more we play with a particular car, the more we level it up and this allows us to unlock new parts to improve it. We like the idea, but in a game that starts with 500 cars, we’d like something that invites us to try out other vehicles rather than focusing on one specific one. Of course, when changing tests, we will constantly change cars, which means that the idea of \u200b\u200bthe levels remains somewhat half-hearted in its execution.
Also, we’re also surprised that in a game that obviously leans more towards simulation than arcadelet’s meet such an aggressive artificial intelligence. We like to find a certain aggressiveness on the track, which also adds realism to the competition. We love how they cover any gaps and even how they make mistakes, but what we don’t quite see is how they attack us without notice. We don’t know if it’s something like that Drivers They learn from real drivers, but are not typical behavior in a simulator.
Options for everything… except game modes
One of the keys to Forza Motorsport It’s accessibility and opportunity. And we’re not just talking about accessibility for players who need some extra help, as we’ve already seen with this blind player, but for every player. We can customize the experience virtually down to the millimeter, getting as much or as little help as we want in a thousand and one ways.. For example, we can customize many aspects of our car individually and manually or, if we prefer, press a button and make the process automatic.
The options don’t stop there. Do we want help driving? Layout pointers? We can choose which ones and with what level of care. We can choose the speed of our opponents, the overall difficulty or even choose from which position we start on the starting grid. Everything can always be tweaked, and as usual in sagas, while the options affect the difficulty, biggest challenge, biggest cash reward.
those where we were most disappointed Forza Motorsport This applies to game modes. After removing the free mode and the fun mode (for viewing replays and photos), we have the main mode, which is divided into different racing blocks, an online mode (both competitive against other players and private games with friends) and an event mode in which you can fight ghosts. Each will be updated with additional content, but right now we have a few surprises. And yes, we know it isn’t Forza Horizon 5but we’d like Turn 10 to surprise at least a little bit.
We weren’t expecting anything too crazy, but after six years it would be nice to do something outside of racing and time trials, or even a bit more emphasis on the world around cars; something you try without much success. Turn 10 has already announced that they have tracks, cars and new tournaments rolling out gradually, so hopefully we’ll also see something that adds a bit of variety to the racing.
The game of a new generation
Where Turn 10 didn’t skimp on the visuals. It’s true that some races may not impress you at first, but we think that’s because they tried to focus more on realism than results, which sometimes creates duller tones that are less surprising. But don’t be fooled: The game looks great, with detailed cars and scenarios where the lighting shines above all else., something that also benefits from dynamic and customizable time and weather. We want to highlight the ray tracing implementation, both for reflections and ambient occlusion, which runs at 60 frames per second on the Xbox Series X, where we analyzed it.
In options, we have three visual modes: performance (60fps at 4K, no raytracing), raytracing performance (also at 60, but with dynamic resolution) and quality mode (also does raytracing in buildings other than cars, works in 4K and, logically, sacrifices performance at 30fps). Whatever you choose, you can’t go wrong. We preferred the second because we think it strikes the perfect balance between quality and performance, and you can see the result in the video that accompanies this text.
As for the sound, Forza Motorsport It’s not far behind either. It’s not only about the realism of the effects on the asphalt, but also about how they surround us. Playing with a 5.1 sound system, the inside camera did a great job of reproducing the muffled sound around us, and with the outside camera we knew which way we were being overtaken without looking in the rearview mirror. It is a pity that the music is extremely restrained and that it comes to us without voices in Spanish from Spain (yes, in Spanish from Latin America), although we have a good translation of the lyrics, without missing, of course, the mistakes already common in the saga.
Measured return
Forza Motorsport returns in full game form, with a title that controls like a charm, a lot of fun and very good visually, but it’s not ambitious, in fact it even feels like, deliberately, a base product to gradually expand with more content and features. It’s no secret that Turn 10 has a lot of new features lined up for the coming months, but even so, we’d love to see six years from now, Forza Motorsport came back stronger, surprising and setting a new benchmark for the saga. As we say, the foundation is flawless, so we’ll just have to wait and see what gets built on top of it.
We ran this analysis on an Xbox Series X using a download code provided by Xbox.
