The new Pokémon Go Detective Pikachu investigation is now active. Here’s a look at what you can get and how you can earn it.
Along with the launch of the new Detective Pikachu Returns game for Nintendo Switch, Niantic has launched the Detective Pikachu Returns event in Pokémon Go.
Along with it comes a series of new trials in the mobile title, one of which is the new Time Trial.
Here’s a breakdown of all Detective Pikachu’s Return Time Investigation quests and rewards in Pokémon Go.

Detective Pikachu Return to Pokémon Go and Timed Quests
Here are all the Timed Research tasks and their associated rewards, courtesy of Serebii and LeekDuck.
Step 1 of 2
- Spin five PokéStops or Gyms – Encounter with Pikachu
- Complete three field research tasks – Encounter with Pikachu
- Complete six field studies – Encounter with Pikachu
- Explore 1 km – meet Pikachu
- Earn candy while walking with your friend – Pikachu Encounter
Reward: 1500 XP and 1500 Stardust

Step 2 – choose a branch. “Go” players can choose between Snivy, Rowlet, or Sudowoodo, but those who choose Sudowoodo will encounter a Pokemon.

- Snivy: Spin a PokéStop or Gym – 25 XP
- Rowlet: Spin a PokéStop or Gym – 25 XP
- Sudowoodo Spin PokéStop or Gym – Encounter with Pikachu

How to take part in the investigation of Detective Pikachu Return
Detective Pikachu’s Timed Investigation is a free event exclusive mission. All coaches can participate in this at no extra cost.
This will be active alongside the Pokémon Go Detective Pikachu Returns event, which will be held from October 5th to October 9th, 2023.

This event is limited. So don’t forget to complete the tasks and claim your rewards before 20:00 local time on October 9.
