Elon Musk is launching a new X option that will rival WhatsApp

Social network X owned by a millionaire Elon Muskhas just taken one of the latest innovative steps that will make the page compete with WhatsApp. Just launched Chat, a messaging platform that will send messages and create video calls.

It’s based on Twitter’s direct messages, a core feature of the platform, although not as effective as the messages sent by WhatsApp. With the new update, Chat will be able to make video and voice calls. Other features that can be found are end-to-end encryption of messages, the ability to edit, delete or completely delete chats on all devices, self-destructing messages or a screenshot blocker (this will prevent someone from taking a screenshot of the conversation with the ability to notify you when it happens).

The chat has complete privacy. It has no trackers and no ads, keeping your messages private. To protect conversations, users will need to set a mandatory 4-digit password when logging in on an unknown device; in a similar way that WhatsApp asks when you activate two-step verification.

End-to-end encryption and other features are not enabled until a person registers and sets their password. Conversations will be viewed with an open lock (they are not encrypted) and will not allow you to activate the disappearance of messages or lock screenshots.

Since it is based on direct Twitter messages, all previous conversations will be loaded into the user interface. Everything is in early beta at the moment, which is subject to change. In the web version, many conversations do not load. Chat is currently only available on iOS and the web.
