Pokemon GO players are in for a treat this Halloween season as the hit mobile game is hosting several events throughout October. Players will not only be able to participate Pokemon GoOctober’s Community Day features Timburr, but Harvest Festival and Halloween will also take place this month. The Harvest Festival is the first in this line of events and includes the creation of the Gen 9 creation Smoliv and its evolutions Dolliv and Arboliva along with their shiny variant for players to try to catch.
Shiny Pokemon variants are a popular item Pokemon GO players, and most in-game events tend to have a higher chance of occurring for dedicated players. What makes shiny pieces desirable is their rarity, as well as an alternative color palette compared to regular shapes. While some creatures have much more pronounced shiny variants, others have shiny coloring that is too similar to their normal form for many players’ tastes, but Smoliv has a unique shiny with a fun design, so players will want to make sure they catch one during the holiday harvest.

When this creature evolves into a Dolliv, the creature retains the same olive coloring with only two olives instead of one, but when it evolves into an Arboliva, these olives change to purple, likely due to a different type of olive, specifically the Kalamata olive.
Unlike its regular form, the shiny version of Smoliv changes the green color of the olive to black olives, which are a type of ripe olive commonly found in canned goods or on foods like pizza. It’s a fun reference to the fact that there are different types of olives, and it also gives Smoliv a distinct shiny finish that’s easily distinguishable from its regular form. It’s interesting to note that both Dolliv and Arboliva have the same black olive color in their shiny variants, despite Arboliva being a different olive color than Smoliv and Dolliv in regular form.
The coloration of the Resin’s body changes only slightly in its shiny form compared to its standard form, becoming a greenish-yellow olive color in this form. Similarly, Doliv and Arbaliv’s bodies change only slightly in their shiny variants, simply taking on a darker green color compared to their base forms. However, the stark olive contrast between the regular and shiny variants is enough to make Smoliv and his evolutions stand out from the crowd of shiny creatures, and enough to make shiny hunters in Pokemon Go will definitely want to add them to their collection.
