Final Fantasy VII Rebirth was released at the end of February and was well received by specialized critics, but new information suggests that the good reviews of the Square Enix game were not enough to get good financial results.
Analyst Danial Ahmad, director of research at Niko Parners, revealed that sales of the PlayStation 5 exclusive were underwhelming, far behind its predecessor, Final Fantasy VII Remake.
In a post on Social Network X (or Twitter, if you prefer), Ahmad reports that Final Fantasy VII Rebirth outsold roughly half of the Remake during the same period.
Final Fantasy VII Remake was released for PlayStation 4 in April 2020, when the console had 100 million users. It sold 3.5 million units in its first three days, according to Square Enix, which has yet to provide details on Rebirth’s performance.

In comparison, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth hit the market a few months after the PlayStation 5 surpassed 50 million consoles sold. Last week, Ampere Analysis revealed that Rebirth reached its daily peak of 2.21 million players at launch, including those testing the demo.
Recently, Square Enix talked about the final part of the Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy. According to director Tetsuya Nomura, the plot of the third chapter is complete and dubbing will begin soon.
