Huawei is strengthening its mid-range catalog in China with the new nova 15 family, consisting of the nova 15, nova 15 Pro and nova 15 Ultra, three models that share a common DNA but target different audiences.
This year’s Nova 15 Ultra and Nova 15 Pro share basic specifications. Among them is a 6.84-inch LTPO OLED with a resolution of 1320 x 2856 pixels and a refresh rate of 1-120 Hz. They have a local peak brightness of 4000 nits and are protected by Kunlun glass. The pill-shaped cutout houses a 50MP camera, which is joined by a 1.5MP multi-spectral sensor.
New design and screens
- The series debuts in the design language “double ring”with two rear rings that group the camera sensors and give a very clear identity to the hardware.
- The Nova 15 Pro and Ultra use a 6.84-inch LTPO OLED panel with a resolution of 1.5K (1320 x 2856 pixels), a variable refresh rate of 1 to 120 Hz, and a peak brightness of up to 4000 nits, protected by Kunlun glass.
- The standard nova 15 relies on a 6.7-inch FHD+ 120Hz OLED screen with a single punch hole for the front camera.
Cameras and equipment
- The Nova 15 Ultra includes three 50MP rear sensors (main RYYB with f/1.4–f/4.0 variable aperture and OIS, 3.7x teleperiscope, and 118° ultra-wide), while the Pro combines a 50MP RYYB primary, 12MP tele, and 13MP ultra-wide.
- All three models have a 50-megapixel selfie camera, while the Ultra and Pro add a 1.5-megapixel multispectral sensor in the front “tablet” cutout.
- The Nova 15 Pro and Ultra have the new Kirin 9010S, which promises up to 18% more performance compared to the previous generation Kirin 8020, while the nova 15 uses the Kirin 8020 and improves up to 42% compared to the Kirin 8000 nova 14.
Battery, charge and resistance
- The Nova 15 Pro and Ultra are equipped with 6,500mAh silicon carbon batteries with 100W fast charging, while the Ultra adds 50W wireless charging.
- Nova 15 remains at 6000 mAh, also with 100 W charging.
- The Pro and Ultra come with IP68 and IP69 certifications, while the base model supports IP65.
Software, pricing and availability
- The whole family runs HarmonyOS 6.0 and has a satellite connection in China.
- Prices in China: nova 15 from 2,699 yuan, nova 15 Pro from 3,499 yuan and nova 15 Ultra from 4,199 yuan with up to 1 TB of storage on the Ultra.
- The series is now available for pre-order on Vmall, with shipping starting on December 27th, with no international release yet expected.
