Pokemon Go players are calling for developer Niantic to change the way Mega Energy is distributed, making it possible to get Mega Energy by walking instead of relying on raids.
Mega Evolution has been a key part of Pokemon Go since it was introduced in August 2020. The unique mechanic allows you to temporarily activate certain Pokemon and use some of the strongest monsters in the entire game.
There are currently two ways to obtain Mega Energy, the resource used to Mega Evolve Pokemon. Mega Energy can be obtained by completing certain raid battles or completing research tasks.

The lack of options prompted the community to ask Niantic to add a third method that can be used to farm to obtain Mega Energy.
Suggesting a solution to the Mega Energy shortage, one trainer wrote on Reddit: “Anyone else want you to go around and get Mega Energy for all the Pokemon that have Mega? Not just the ones you’ve already mega-developed?”
After further explaining their problem with how Mega Energy is currently acquired, they closed, “I feel like if the whole point of the game is to get people out, then more people will come out if you can play any Pokemon that has a mega option, and get mega energy for it. I have at least a dozen possible megas, but I can’t seem to get mega energy. Pretty lame.

The idea proved popular with one response saying, “Yes, I would like something more affordable. Charmander’s classic community day gave us a bunch of mega energy, but they decided not to do it for Mareep. What a load of f*ck lol.”
Another coach expressed his frustration in response: “I’m with you. I’ve gotten a shiny monster 3 times so far, but I had to wait a long time to be able to mega evolve them,” before revealing Latios, Shuppet, and Sableye as the offending Pokemon.

“It would be nice if all the wild Pokemon in the Mega Family had the ability to lose say 5-10 Mega Energy when caught. Make it a low enough chance to make it a serious grind if niantic really feels the need to,” another trainer wrote, expanding on the OP’s original suggestion.
A strategy that many Pokemon Go players don’t know about you will need Mega Energy to Mega Evolve a Pokemon once. After your first Mega Evolution, you can repeat it for free, albeit with a cooldown. This rest period is reduced each time you Mega Evolve the same Pokemon.
