Fans of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have shared a brilliant way to use Ditto during their walkthrough, giving Transform Pokémon a purpose beyond breeding.
Pokemon fans will be familiar with Ditto, as Generation 1 Transform Pokemon are a mainstay in the series. He has appeared in all the main entries mainly due to his role in Pokemon breeding and brilliant hunting.
When it was introduced in Pokemon Red & Blue, breeding wasn’t even a mechanic that allowed Ditto to shine in battle instead. It hasn’t been the case for years, though it’s rarely used in passing or competitive play.

However, players are now discovering an interesting method to not only make Ditto viable during normal playthroughs, but even become one of the strongest options for each matchup.

It’s interesting to see how Ditto is planned to be used for a player on Reddit who asked, “Anyone ever try to use Ditto in playthroughs? How did you find it?’
“I’ve always thought about trying it, but I’m not sure if it would be helpful. Has anyone else ever tried using Ditto as part of your team? How was it?” I usually just keep the Ditto for breeding, as I’m sure most people do, OP continued, hoping that others had understood the Ditto’s true calling.

It turns out that the established strategy is already known, and one fan was eager to share it: “Choice Scarf Impostor Ditto -> Your Ditto comes out, copies the characteristics of the enemy and becomes faster than them. It just works.”
Choice Scarf is a stored item that increases a Pokemon’s speed by 50%, but locks it on the first turn chosen. Since Ditto’s signature ability, Imposter allows it to copy the stats of an opposing Pokemon, it will always be stronger with the Scarf of Choice worn thanks to its increased speed.

A big reason why Imposter Ditto works so well in singleplayer is because Pokemon’s AI isn’t that smart. Just about any capable player will be able to use a Pokemon’s moveset more effectively than an AI.
