Counter-Strike 2 is finally out, and with it comes the question at Valve: “will we make a third part to break the curse?” While these questions elude us, we do know that the American shooter took Steam by storm, but it also faced an enemy: a New World that came looking for the throne with the most downloaded on the platform.
No one can deny that what Valve has achieved with CS2 is impressive. We are talking no less than 1.1 million players as the maximum peak on the day of its launch, which only a few achieve. New World hit that mark with 900,000 concurrent users, but Amazon Games’ MMO isn’t competing with Valve’s shooter for players, but for economy in the game.
Although Steam’s Best Sellers section is grouped together play for free and paid games, Steam made it clear on its blog: Microtransactions in shopping paid DLC. That is, bestsellers are listed by revenue from payment of the game itself, and not by the number of copies sold.

In this case, thanks to the premiere of the Rise of the Angry Earth expansion, which promises bring the game to life and pulling it out of the quagmire it had been mired in for a year led to the rise of MMO 74 positions at once in flirt with the number 1, busy CS2. In fact, the shooter has four eyes: two from the base game, which ranks second in the table, and the same number from the DLC, which ranks third.
Counter-Strike 2 isn’t exactly free
Available as a free download and monetized primarily through the sale of cosmetics, it seems to fit all the usual characteristics of this type of title. However, the answer is more complicated than it seems. Although you can download the game and try it for free, some features are locked for payment.

The first status is the name of the Counter-Strike 2 application, which essentially serves to verify our account. It is sold separately for €14.29 and, although it may appear to be a subscription service, requires a one-time payment. It offers various benefits, including getting free memorabilia, weapon crates, and random rewards every week.
